Finding out where you can help

There are a number of local projects and groups which rely on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. Opportunities for new members often come up throughout the year, so keep an eye on our events calendar to see where help is needed.

You can also follow us on Facebook and on X (formerly known as Twitter) to find out about the latest volunteering opportunities.

Local projects you can join

Quids In food clubs

Quids In supports  families in South Manchester who are finding it hard to manage during the cost-of-living crisis. It’s linked to the food charity Fareshare.

It’s not a food bank, but a food club, which offers membership at a low cost. This gives access to fresh, chilled and hard-to-find food items. It also provides ongoing support with budgeting and managing money.

There are five local clubs in Chorlton Park, Merseybank, Burnage East, Burnage West, and Old Moat, which are all run with the support of volunteers. It’s great place to donate your time and skills.

Westcroft Community Centre

Westcroft is also a welcoming, social space for people to come together. It’s a community space in Burnage providing a wide range of activities and services for local people.

The centre needs volunteers to help run and support its activities. There are lots of opportunities to share your time and skills across a huge variety of events. From adult learning to children’s activities, we’d love to hear if you can help.

Some of the recent events at Westcroft Community Centre include:

  • Gardening in the community garden
  • Children’s movie nights
  • Storytime sessions
  • Breakfast clubs
  • Children’s craft activities
  • Yoga sessions
  • Discussion groups
  • Diabetes group
  • Cookery groups
